#AdvocacyMatters: Celebrating Empowerment
October 25, 2024 / #AdvocacyMatters
October is recognized as Disability Employment Empowerment Month, a time to celebrate “the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcase supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices that benefit employers and employees.” Our work in supporting independence through employment is regularly reflected in our annual Goals and Objectives, including this year’s goal of “Promoting equity and increasing positive employment outcomes for people with disabilities to prepare for, enter, or remain in the workplace.”
“Day in and day out we see so much incredible potential represented by individuals with disabilities who seek access to education or training or a workplace accommodation,” shared members of our team. “We feel privileged to work with so many persistent and talented individuals who need only a little help to join the workforce in their communities.”
Independence is a key component of an equitable society, and only when people have access to the tools and resources necessary to live, work, learn, and go where and how they choose can true equity come into focus. As Ohio’s designated Client Assistance Program, we advocate for and protect the rights of Ohioans receiving vocational rehabilitation (VR) services and assist with preparing for, finding, maintaining, and advancing in competitive, integrated employment.
