#AdvocacyMatters: Diving In

With a mission and ambitions that can often outpace our federal funding, creativity is key in raising the funds necessary to amplify our work and expand our reach across the state. From grants that provide for specific fellowships or projects to a benefit comedy show, we aren’t afraid to do what’s necessary to help us reach our goals. If that means we end up riding down a river in small boats picking rubber ducks out of the water, then that’s what we’ll do.

For the third consecutive year, we will be hosting our DRO Duck Derby – Presented by OPOC.US. On Wednesday, September 13th, up to 1,000 rubber ducks will race down the Muskingum River towards the Ohio River near Marietta. Each duck carries a number, and the sponsors of the first three ducks to cross the finish line will win prizes – including a $500 first place prize!

For just $5 each, you can sponsor a duck in the race… the more you sponsor, the better your chances of winning! Most importantly, though, its that your generous contribution goes right back to DRO to continue and grow the work we do every single day.

If you’re looking for a safer bet, you can order 2023 Duck Derby merchandise to show your support for who we are and what we do. You can choose from a premium t-shirt, a coffee mug, or an eco-friendly tote bag… all featuring our adorable rubber duck mascot and event logo.
