#AdvocacyMatters: Doing More
March 31, 2023 / #AdvocacyMatters
Our work comes about in many ways. Each year we collect community input to help identify areas of need across Ohio, and use this data to inform and shape our work through an annual set of Goals and Objectives. While there are certain core functions that carry on throughout each year, expanding into new work areas with data-informed decisions allows our team to best meet the needs of our communities. With a vision of “Voices Elevated, People Empowered, Equity Achieved,” this ability to focus is key in achieving our ultimate mission.
We are fortunate that the core aspects of our work are supported by direct and specific federal grants. This stable funding keeps our most vital activities moving without disruption. These federal grants are supplemented by other grants and funding sources which allow us to expand our work into new areas.
Last year, just a little over 3% of our funding came from sources other than Federal grants. These sources – like investments from foundations, community partners, and individual supporters – made a definitive difference in our accomplishments. Despite being just a small fraction of our overall spending, these investments allowed us to meet head-on more of the challenges being faced by Ohioans with disabilities all across the state.
Our work encompassed more than 5,700 individuals last year, covering all 88 of Ohio’s counties. Without the support of all our grantors, our community partners, and individual supporters like you, our team would not be able make the broad impact necessary to realize our vision. We deeply appreciate all those who show how much #AdvocacyMatters by supporting, informing, and amplifying our work.
