#AdvocacyMatters: Making A Splash

Connecting directly with communities across Ohio is a pivotal part of bringing our mission to life. So, too, is rallying support from friends and allies to help expand our work to better meet the needs of all Ohioans with disabilities. When the opportunity presents itself to achieve these two goals with one exciting day of events, great things can happen.

With a year of experience behind us, we are proud to be hosting the 2nd annual DRO Duck Derby on the banks of the Muskingum River in Marietta. Thanks to the generous support of our 2022 Duck Derby corporate partners ThinkCSC, OPOC.us, and Gallagher Consulting Group, this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever. On Thursday, September 15th, up to 1,000 rubber ducks will race down the Muskingum towards the mighty Ohio River. The first three ducks to reach the finish line win, and the three lucky sponsors of those ducks will take home great prizes. The sponsor of the first place duck will leave with $500 cash!

Perhaps most exciting, this year’s Duck Derby will take place immediately following our first over Southeast Ohio Job and Disability Resource Fair! In partnership with Disability Rights West Virginia, the Washington County Board of DD, Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, the Southeast Ohio Center for Independent Living, and Washington County Veterans Services, we’re organizing an afternoon for people from all over southeast Ohio to explore job opportunities, learn about disability services, and hear from the elected officials who represent them.
