#AdvocacyMatters: A Town Hall for All
February 2, 2024 / #AdvocacyMatters
At the onset of the pandemic we changed the way we engage with the communities we serve, with an emphasis on virtual and small in-person events. Today, we can return to more in-person events with safety still in mind. We are holding firm to what has worked in our advocacy – meeting disabled Ohioans where they are.
This plan means taking multiple approaches to meet you where you are. Already this year, we hosted a virtual town hall with directors of multiple service systems. This event hosted over 100 registrants and gave participants an accessible space to learn about what is happening in disability advocacy.
Along with these virtual townhalls, we are excited to host multiple in-person Town Halls with various Centers for Independent Living (“CILs”). With help from our wonderful Community Engagement Coordinator, Brittanie Maddox, we hope to see you at one of these community-led events so you can connect with local elected officials and policymakers to discuss issues that are important to you.
Our first in-person and regional Town Hall, to be hosted alongside The Ability Center of Greater Toledo, will be held on Friday, February 23rd from 1-3 p.m. If you’re in the Toledo area and would like to join us, you can register at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/223townhall. In March, with Linking Employment, Abilities and Opportunities (LEAP), we will host a second in-person Townhall for the Cleveland area, which you can register for here https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/leap320.
We hope to see you there to help make our state a better place for people with disabilities. #AdvocacyMatters
