#AdvocacyMatters: Your Right, Your Vote
September 6, 2024
An equitable society will not be achieved until the opportunity to vote is truly accessible to every individual. Unfortunately, barriers remain that block equal participation in our elections for many people with disabilities. Our work to educate folks on election access and fight systemic barriers is inspired by the “nothing about us without us” mantra.
We’re just about 8 weeks away from election day, and your path to a successful voting experience starts now. Between now and November 5th, we’ll be sharing information, resources, and reminders to help you plan your vote. Our Voter Resource page is regularly updated with information specific to the upcoming election, and is available 24/7 at disabilityrightsohio.org/vote.
Earlier this week, we shared a new post to our Voter Blog that covers voting absentee in Ohio. Applications to vote absentee are due 7 days prior to election day, and completed absentee ballots must be postmarked the day before the election and received no later than 4 days after the election.
The deadline to register to vote in the November 5th election is just about a month away as well. You can register to vote online through the Ohio Secretary of State’s website at https://olvr.ohiosos.gov/, and registrations must be received by Monday, October 7th. Now is also a great time to check your voter registration and verify your polling place, both of which can be done using Ohio’s Voter Lookup tool at voterlookup.ohiosos.gov/.
No matter how you plan to vote, our team is working to help keep you informed and prepared. The path to equity starts at the ballot box.
