Busting #MedicaidMyths: In-home support services and staff
April 11, 2017 / #MedicaidMyths
Myth: "My son has a developmental disability. We have some support staff who come to our house, which I really appreciate. That comes from my county board of developmental disabilities, though, so I don't have to worry about Medicaid."
Fact: These services are paid for by Medicaid. A combination of federal and local or state funds provide for staff who provide support for individuals in home and community-based settings. Local county boards administer these services, but the largest share of funds paying for these services comes from federal Medicaid dollars. Any cuts to Medicaid could lead to reduction or elimination of these services.
