Hearing Wednesday for bill to create OOD council
September 25, 2017 / OOD
Important state policy events are also happening this week! This Wednesday, an Ohio Senate Committee is likely to vote on legislation that will create a new Council to provide more oversight of job-related services provided by the Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities state agency. DRO will serve as a member on this Council and has been driving the charge with a coalition of advocates to create a fair and effective Council.
At the last hearing, our Executive Director, Michael Kirkman provided interested party testimony to present our concerns about restrictions on DRO’s representation on the council, proper naming conventions and educate legislators the importance of compensation for council members.
If you want to provide testimony or attend the Senate Government Oversight and Reform committee for the hearing, it will take place on Wednesday, September 27 at 9:45 a.m. in the Senate Finance Hearing room at the Ohio Statehouse.
