State Controlling Board to vote on Medicaid expansion Monday, October 21
October 16, 2013 / Medicaid
A select group of members of the Ohio General Assembly who serve on the state's Controlling Board will determine whether Medicaid will be expanded in Ohio.
The Controlling Board, a legislative body with authority over state spending, will meet on Monday, October 21, 2013, to vote on whether to expand Medicaid coverage in Ohio consistent with the federal Affordable Care Act. Governor Kasich’s Administration submitted a plan to expand Medicaid to the federal government, and it has been approved. With this step finalized, the Ohio Department of Medicaid is now seeking spending authority from the Controlling Board to support Medicaid expansion in Ohio. If expansion is approved, an additional 275,000 Ohioans will receive health care coverage under the Governor’s Medicaid expansion plan.
