#AdvocacyMatters: Informing, Improving
July 14, 2023 / #AdvocacyMatters
Over the last several weeks, we’ve been collecting information from all across Ohio through our annual Goals & Objectives survey. These surveys were developed to help us understand the barriers experienced by Ohioans with disabilities; fully accessible and available in multiple languages. While the survey is open to family members, service providers, and other professionals in addition to Ohioans with disabilities, our underlying goal throughout this process has been to collect as many first-person accounts and lived experiences from disabled advocates as possible. By rooting our work in the reality of their daily lives, we can continue to make progress towards our mission of advocating for an equitable Ohio for people with disabilities.
So how can you, our allies and supporters, help us make the most of this process? With the survey open for just 2 more days, you can help us raise awareness and increase participation by sharing the information and links below with your networks. You can also help share information about our organization’s mission and work – increased awareness of who we are and what we do is critical to meeting our goals. Finally, you can help support our work into new areas, either by contributing directly or hosting a Facebook fundraiser for us. You can learn more about supporting us financially at disabilityrightsohio.org/donate.
After the survey closes this weekend, our team will go to work analyzing the data and looking for trends and changes. This information will be shared with our organization’s leadership and board as they begin the process of reviewing, refining, and improving our goals & objectives, which will take effect on October 1st at the beginning of our fiscal year. Elevating voices and empowering people – as we commit to in our new vision statement – begins with rooting our work in these real, lived experiences. #AdvocacyMatters
